Delays

April 17, 2010

IĀ  spent night sorting ideas here.

At 5:30 AM, I rested. After a few tries I woke up at 3:30 PM.

I went to book store with Fernando watch the JorgeĀ“s Book presentation.

I did not talk with Jorge about my Project, that time I let him shine and donĀ“t make pressure.

About the book presentation I thought : “Those artists question the common sense but donĀ“t show alternatives”

Now i think i should talk to Jorge on next month.

Why i change my mind so fast?

It seems our emotions act as lens making distortions to reality.

Old and crazy ideas

April 17, 2010

Since the 80Ā“s I wish to build my own microprocessor. I learned processors are made with gates (Not Bill) on a book about Sinclair ZX Spectrum and I could find that basic digital Lego on TTL chips first created by Texas Instruments.

I have a collection of that chips most of them used but some of them new.

I built a asynchronous counter of 16 bit using four 74ls161 chips ,but somehow hi order bits did not switch correctly, and connect it to red leds to watch the counting than I gave up.

Now i know TTL chips are slow for todayĀ“s standards. A few MHz not GHz like the computer i am typing. And todays electronics need special tools to solder over a PCB the SMD chips.

Anyway today I have a few minutes of wake dreaming wishing to build a microprocessor with a Programable Logic Device PLD I saw on magazine 2 or 3 years ago. At least it works with the speed ofĀ  300 MHz.

I know x86 incarnations will not last forever but Apple surrender to Intel using Intel chips.

Is needed a lot of money and a big team or even a joint-venture of companies to build a solid alternative to Intel.

I need income not spend the money I donĀ“t have fighting Intel. I am getting old, i know šŸ˜¦

Any way if you are younger on spirit or like to masturbate building hardware. Send me a comment I will share what I know about it šŸ˜‰

Sunday bloody sunday

April 17, 2010

Hopefully I slept less than usual because my laptop refused to shut down and it was burning life while I was sleeping.

No, isnĀ“t nice have my only one and dear computer with problems but is nice donĀ“t sleep long hours as usual.

Hey we should see the good side of life šŸ˜‰

Today, I will knock out adversity or adversity will bury me on depression.

I will go to a bookstore in a mall with Fernando to watch the presentation of JorgeĀ“s book. I will try to persuade Jorge to make the Art of my project. We spoke about it before and Jorge delayed a decision after book presentation.

Anyway he donĀ“t have practice modelling persons and i donĀ“t know if it has strong enough willpower to learn it. The truth is, he is better artist than me.

LetĀ“s see what happens.

c_move

April 16, 2010

At 4:00 AM I leaved office, or should i say home? Well nevermind…

And i went to gas station by foot, 10 minutes, to take a black espresso, not thinking on dangerous of night outside.

Why strangers say good morning when usually at day time the people ignore me?

They think being friendly are safer at night?

Well, letĀ“s get into the juice of my post.

My last system of generate procedural terrain was get a random x,y position beingĀ  z at 2000 quants (distance units) check distance to ground and check distance of new object to already generated objects and if the distance are ok generate next object, else try another random position.

After all objects generated i drop them with c_move.

The problem is if the bounding boxes intersect the later object drops until find the intersecting bounding box and stays levitating.

My game is not about magic. šŸ˜¦

So now i calculate distance to ground and have to fine adjust each kind of object for donĀ“t levitate and donĀ“t be buried on terrain.

This is my video of 27th march with my first attempts : Video

I know it sucks and it is short but gives you an idea of my project.

If no one read this atĀ  least i sort my ideas typing.

The A7 engine sucks

April 16, 2010

Well it is it.

Scaling on runtime donĀ“t change bounding box size.

And lite-c the script donĀ“t compile the new code if i just edit a line and not hit return key.

So many times being bitted by same dog and i donĀ“t learn šŸ˜¦

I invested more thanĀ  400 hours studying the engine, i feel disappointed and without better alternatives.

I donĀ“t want to make an engine by my own.Ā  I have no idea how much time it takes and using this engine i estimate 7500 hours for do all stuff.

Shower time , I need to wash my brain. 2 AM is a good time.

Who gonna be the kindly soul to make the first comment here?

Another day, another try

April 15, 2010

I felt frustrated because my procedural terrain is giving headaches and i did not leave to photo a texture for my conic tree.

I lunched pasta with bacon and crashed on my bed at 1:30 pm.

I will have to wait for daylight and hope, it isnĀ“t rain for take photos.

My plan for next hours is to solve the problem of procedural terrain.

And donĀ“t surf internet.

Hello world!

April 15, 2010

This is the story of building the forthcoming game development Empire.

Now i am working with free version of 3D GameStudio.

I started with Sinclair ZX81.

It seems an improvement…
